Why Branding Is More Than a Logo—It’s a Mindset Shift


At the start of March, I joined this small business training program. I was expecting it to jump straight into the usual—funnels, pricing, content strategy... the biz stuff.


But before we even got there, the first few modules were all about mindset. And honestly? It caught me off guard. In a good way.


There was this one lesson where the trainer shared her story—and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.


She had every reason to quit. Life was throwing her curveballs left, right, and centre. But instead of breaking under the pressure, she bounced. She pivoted. She rolled with it.


And she chose to focus on the 1%—just the next step, just the needle-moving action. She was clear on her goals. Aligned with her strategy. Everything else? Background noise.


That hit me hard. So hard that I wrote the phrase “Bounce, don’t break” on the whiteboard in my home office. Now I see it every single day. And it’s not just a quote I look at when life gets messy—it’s become part of how I run my business.


I catch myself saying it to clients when they’re overwhelmed.

I say it to friends when they’re navigating life stuff.

I even think it during Oztag games when I miss a tag or get caught out of position.

(Bounce back, not spiral, Gels. You’ve got this.)

When things get busy, chaotic, emotional—what’s the first thing we push to the side? Our sports brand. Our authentic voice. Our community presence. Our strategy.

  1. Write your bounce phrase somewhere you can see it. Mine’s on my whiteboard.

  2. Audit your brand: Does it feel like you? Or is it a patchwork of “shoulds” and trends?

  3. Start small: What’s one thing you can do this week to strengthen your brand? Maybe it’s revisiting your brand values. Maybe it’s rewriting your bio. Maybe it’s asking for help (👋🏽 hi, that’s me).

  4. Choose the 1%: Don’t try to fix everything at once. Focus on what moves the needle.




You’re not here to break, sis. You’re here to lead.

And you’re allowed to do it in a way that feels calm, aligned, and true to you.


Sports Branding won’t fix your whole life, but it will help you navigate it with more clarity, consistency, and confidence.
